Born in Southern California, JOEL KAZUO KNOERNSCHILD is a half-Japanese, multi-hyphenate, Emmy award winning film and commercial director who seeks to give a voice to marginalized individuals. His work includes directing music videos for Tom Petty, Julianna Barwick, LANY, The Knocks, Foster the People, Dr. Octagon, and Gary Numan; and directing commercials for Apple Music, Lululemon, Porsche, Rothy's, Elemis, The International Olympic Committee, and many more. His short form work has also led him to work alongside the biggest names in television, where he took home an Emmy in the Short Form Non-Fiction Narrative category for "Inside Look: American Crime Story: The People vs OJ Simpson" in 2016.
